Hill climbs, the art of having a sprint uphill. Hill climbs never get old, it’s not just about going fast, it’s about conquering the road. Not track surfaces, actual roads. In our opinion, Malta has some of the best hill climb drivers worldwide, not only excelling locally on our own terrains but also beyond our beautiful shores. You meet a variety of people with a variety of cars and the different classes give the spectator even more to see, from the little classic mini to track built Radicals and open wheel racers.
We’ve been fans of hill climbs for a couple of years and we’re proud to say we’ve missed almost none of them. This is what we were doing before Spartan Plugs, we photographed hill climb events which opened great opportunities to meet and talk to the drivers themselves. Today we get to meet Luca Vella who has been a recent addition to the driver lineup and a guy we’ve been watching since day one. Luca is an intense car lover and is very meticulous about his cars which is a trait that we’ve learnt that runs in the family. Looking at the build quality of the car and custom fabrication, matching paint and even to the dials chosen you can tell that Luca cares about every aspect of his cars.
Modifications and parts include:
- Sabelt harnesses
- Stack boost, oil pressure and oil temperature gauges
- PowerFlex bushes
- Tein coilovers
- Competition clutch
- Samco hoses
The custom fabrication in the car is by Alex Agius at Liksa Garage.
We won’t spoil the rest of the fun since Luca talks us through his car and experiences in the interview we had with him embedded in this post. So sit back, relax and enjoy: Luca Vella’s Subaru Impreza.
